Goals

The GA Future Maestr@as team focuses on studying the experiences of Latinx pre-service teachers (PSTs) in Georgia. We want to understand the tensions and challenges that Latinx PSTs face as they prepare to be teachers.

Our objective is for this study to serve as an exemplar for those that seek to center the experiences and meaning-making of people of color. Through this work we hope to contribute to create a support system for Latinx future teachers in GA, so more and better Latinx teachers can serve students in our schools. 

Experience Gained

The team will develop an interview questionnaire focused on the experiences Latinx pre-service teachers have in the state of GA. They will help recruit participants for the study, as well as conduct the interview. They will also be part of and pl谩ticas with Latinx PSTs in the state of Georgia. They will also support the participants in telling their stories also through storytelling.

Majors and Interests Needed

Team members will preferably be bilingual (Spanish and English) as some of the data collection methods and the data will be in Spanish.
